Ghosts of Christmases Past

It's Christmas! It must be, because the Flower Lady is making Christmas cookies. (Kind of looks like something from the Hubble Space Telescope, doesn't it?) Anyway, I'll stay out of the kitchen and we can time-travel back through some beautiful Christmases past. Rest of post removed by author.

Happy Birthday, Blog!

Believe it or not, it's been five years; yes, our first post was November 30, 2009, just before the Flower Lady's birthday. And here it is her birthday again. She hasn't aged a bit, I can tell you, but she has gotten busier than ever. Many more busy, creative years, my beautiful Flower Lady!

Conceptual Cornucopia

For the holiday, the Flower Lady and her class made "conceptual cornucopias," cleverly using palm bark. Happy Thanksgiving!

This Just In

The Flower Lady presented this morning in a marquis venue of afficianados. I thought you would like to see her arrangements. The theme was "Transitioning from Fall to Christmas."

There's been a lot of activity, floral and otherwise, this past summer, so let's just load up the tray and have a spin on the old Carousel:
Test arrangement for the FL's summer Floral Fun class. Note the "ice."

I like the kangaroo paws sticking out of this parallel arrangement.

More paws.

Summer day, two-lane blacktop, one-lane bridge.

Why did the peacock...?

Home on the deck.

Formal arrangement.

Whew! Longest post ever, I think.

Summer Memories

Back in June, the Flower Lady took our early crop of roses and put them in these fanciful containers from a wedding reception.

They smelled fantastic too.

We also grew this perfectly shaped weed.
The FL used a flax leaf to line the clear glass vase.

This rose, bought commercially, was almost copper-colored; it is called "Coffee Break."

I believe the FL was just messing around with some leftover flowers here.

The Last Jewelweed. We used to have an extensive patch of jewelweed in our "marsh." Either the deer or the very wet weather of the last two years wiped it out, except for this one bush I found. I've missed it; perhaps it's on its way back.

Should have saved this one for Halloween.

Simple arrangement for Labor Day entertaining. Get ready for fall!

Hello, August!

Topping the blog this week, from the archives, an arrangement from two summers ago.
In other news, the Flower Lady took advantage of the cooler wet weather to clear out a neglected corner and install a nice little grouping.

And she did it with her little red shovel!

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the mellow days of August!

Summer Goings-On

Silks arrangement, with gold-sprayed antherium leaves.

"Patio" tomatoes:

Also on the patio:
Petunias! In a trough made by the Flower Lady herself.

And, on a personal note: I can't tell you all the wonderful things the Flower Lady did to celebrate the Flower Lady's Husband's birthday, of which there were many, but they did include
EXPLODING CUPCAKES!!!

Thanks for the Best Birthday Ever, Sweetheart!
